Stop Slacking: Here’s How To Stay Motivated

If you’re not motivated in different areas of life, you are never going to accomplish the things that you want to. Unfortunately, it is easy to get unmotivated and this often results in procrastination and not reaching your goals. This guide has been put together to teach you how to keep motivated at a variety of different things.

Get And Stay Motivated In Everyday Life

Tips for staying motivated will vary slightly depending on what it is that you want to achieve. While saying that, here are some standard steps that can work for pretty much anything in life that you want to get motivated for.

1. Know your goals

To be motivated to do something, you have to have end goals in mind. If you don’t have a result in mind, you are just going to be thinking why bother? You could even write your goals down to help you stay accountable for them.

2. Make to-do lists

If you know what you are doing throughout your day, you are much more likely to be motivated to actually do what needs to be done. Make a to-do list of all the jobs that need to be completed on a day-to-day basis. You will find that you are more productive this way.

3. Break your daily tasks down

If you look at a massive task, it can be very daunting and this makes it much harder to achieve. By breaking down things into more manageable chunks, you will be much more motivated to get them done.

4. Be inspired by your peers

Think about the people you look up to who have similar goals as you and follow what they are doing. Watch their videos if they have any and just allow yourself to be inspired by them and what they’ve achieved.

5. Have a routine

Having a routine in life is really important in staying motivated. When you do positive habits every day, you start to channel these and become much more productive with your time.

6. Create a vision board

A vision board is a great way to envision what you want and really believe that it is going to happen. You can pin up photos to symbolize what you really want in life. Look for ideas for vision boards online if you need more clarification on what they are.

7. Read inspiring books

There are so many amazing and inspiring books out there that are really worth reading. Look for some of the top self-improvement books and invest in a couple of the best-sellers.

8. Track your progress

Whatever you need to be doing, track your progress because seeing how far you have come is going to make such a difference to your motivation levels.

9. Reward yourself

When you reach certain “mini-goals”, reward yourself with things that you have been wanting. These do not have to be huge rewards, it could be something as simple as a new pair of shoes or even your favorite meal.

10. Take breaks

Being motivated is awesome but burning out is not. You should not work yourself into a hole, it is important to take regular breaks no matter what it is that you are trying to achieve.

Why You Need To Stay Motivated At Work

We all have to work in order to get money but your job should be something that you are motivated for. Even if you don’t see yourself in a particular job for the rest of your life, it’s still important that you have habits to keep motivating you to work hard. Being motivated could mean a pay rise and generally an easier life in general. You can find some tips regarding how to stay motivated at work in the next paragraph.

1. Think about your coworkers

You need to be considering that your motivation to work well affects all those around you. From your bosses and your coworkers, if you stick to your role in the company – it helps everything else fall into place which generally makes for a happier working environment.

2. Just keep smiling

Sometimes you need to fake it until you make it and this means doing everything with a smile on your face. Throw yourself into new tasks, accept criticism and generally have a positive attitude towards your job. This will make everyone else respond better to you which is inspiring in itself.

3. Plan your working days

When you get into work in the morning, plan your tasks for the day ahead in a calendar (either on paper or virtual). Knowing how you are going to spend your time hour by hour is a great way to get motivated.

4. Ask for feedback

Feedback about your work can be scary but it can also be really motivating. Ask your bosses how you are doing and you can use what they say to keep you going.

5. Take breaks

Take regular breaks from your chair at work if this is possible. Stretching your legs can do you a world of good and also give you the motivation to get back to it.

Getting Motivated To Exercise When You’re Slacking

When you start up a new exercise regime, you are probably super excited and motivated but that usually doesn’t last very long. If you do not keep up the motivation to work out, you are not going to stick to it which will result in you feeling like a failure. Carry on reading and learn how to stay motivated to workout.

Motivation and exercising

1. Try new things

You do not have to join a gym to get into shape, there are so many different workouts that you can try. Step out of your comfort zone and you might just find something that you love.

2. Set a goal

It is so important that you have a goal in mind so that you know WHY you are working out. You might want to lose a certain amount of weight or sit into a certain dress size. Also, put a date on your end goal so that you have something to work towards.

3. Buy nice workout clothes

When you feel good about yourself, you are more likely to keep a habit up. Investing in a few nice workout outfits is really worth it if it motivates you to exercise on a regular basis.

4. Work out the same time every day

When you work out the same time every single day, it will become a habit. Habits are very hard to break, so this is the perfect way of motivating yourself to exercise. It might be difficult when you are still building this habit up but just stick with it.

5. Don’t do it alone

There are many communities out there that are geared towards exercising and losing weight. You can talk to people who are in the same situation as you and even share tips. Join a group in real life or online (many apps offer this cool feature.)

Find Motivation To Do Well In School

Whether you are at school, college or even university – it’s really important that you are motivated with your studies. Whatever you are working towards is depending on how hard you are working right now. It isn’t always easy however and you can learn how to stay motivated to study in the next paragraph.

Motivated at School

1. Break big tasks up

If you need to do a HUGE project, break it up into manageable chunks that are easier to deal with. Even the best students aren’t superheroes so pace yourself and come up with a plan of action.

2. Create a study routine

Think about when you are in your most productive time of the day and make that the time that you study. Some of us work better in the morning while some of us function better at night. Consider what is the case for you and then work around that.

3. Study with friends

Studying the same way all the time can get very boring so change things up. Studying with friends can make things a lot more interesting. You can ask each other questions and generally feed off with what one another has to say – two heads are better than one as they do say.

4. Have an organized workspace

If you have a clean workspace, you are going to feel much more motivated to study. Take the time to clean your environment (particularly your desk) before you start studying. Even things like new stationery can make you excited to get making notes.

5. Take a break

It is important that you don’t fill your head up with too much information that is just impossible to process. For every thirty minutes that you spend studying, have a five-minute break. Sitting still for too long is not beneficial either so stretch your legs and rest your mind for just a little while. Studying is important but so is taking care of yourself.
