The Key To All Things Is Finding Happiness Within Yourself!

“Think happy thoughts”, “Seek your happy spot”, and “Don’t worry. Be happy” are all true quotes that can help you to feel and be happier in your everyday life. Some people come by it naturally. Others may have to try and discover the simple joys that make them happier.

The truth is, we are not Bergens who need to eat Trolls to be happy. Happiness is something that we must find within ourselves. Your life, your health, and your relationships depend on it!

Find Happiness within Yourself!

It has been proven time and time again that the way you feel can impact your overall life. If you feel that you “will” get the job you are interviewing for, you are more likely to get that job. If you are determined to make your marriage stronger, your chances of success increases. The way it works is simple. If we set our minds to it, we work harder to make it happen. Then we reap the rewards of it as it comes. We change our life as we know it.

Happiness is no different. If we focus our mind and body on being truly happy, we will ultimately become happier. It isn’t a place we can go, but a place where we are convinced we can be happier. It isn’t an item that can bring us happiness, but how the item makes us feel that we could be happier with it. You can hold that joy without those places or things by simply knowing that you, yourself, is happy.

Health and Happiness

Happiness is a state of mind. When we feel happy, we do not feel stressed as much. We tend to have a more positive outlook on all aspects of our lives. This ultimately makes us better at problem-solving because we are more optimistic about what we can do to solve that problem.

This positive energy will extend to all areas of our lives from work and our social life, to our overall health.

The way it impacts our life may surprise you. People who tend to stay happier experience:

  • Lower Risk of Cardiovascular Disease
  • Lower Blood Pressure
  • Improved Diet
  • More Restful Sleep
  • Healthier Body Weight
  • Increased Energy
  • And Less Stress!

By improving all of these aspects of your life, you will ultimately be healthier in mind and body. You will have fewer reasons to splurge on “unhealthy” things such as binge eating or abusing alcohol and drugs, which will also ensure you are healthier, which will make you happier. It is a circle that never ends. It all starts with your inner joy and your ability to find happiness within yourself.

20 Ways to Live Happier

When it comes to finding happiness, you cannot stop after doing only one thing. You have to improve all aspects of your life. Then, as things start to come together, you will become the happiest “you” possible. If you are looking for ways to get happier and stay happier, we have 20 things for you to try.

Running And Staying Healthy

20. Exercise

When you exercise, your body will release endorphins, which are required for a feeling euphoria. You will also be taking a positive step toward a healthier lifestyle or reaching goals that you may have for yourself. Maybe you want to lose ten pounds and exercise will make you feel as though you are taking steps to make that happen. The result will be a feeling of happiness, so tomorrow you will want to exercise more.

19. Forgive Past Mistakes

In your past, you have likely done things or seen things that impact your life today. We all have them. Negative thoughts that dictate the way we live. We once trusted our ex-boyfriend and they hurt us, so why trust another person?

We partied too much in college so we have to keep ourselves on a tight leash now. Perhaps it is something from your childhood, a mistake that you still feel guilt over. Forgive past mistakes and live.

18. Sleep

A tired body does not equal a happy mind. Sleeping on a regular schedule will instantly work wonders on your mental health. We all have a guilty pleasure of sacrificing sleep when we want to do things, but think about how you feel after only a couple hours of sleep. Chances are good, you feel groggy and cranky. This is not going to increase your happiness.

If you want to be happy in your life, you need to allow your body to rest. Choosing a good mattress and setting sleep routines to unwind at the end of the day may be extremely helpful.

17. Consider How Far You Have Come Already

We often sit and think about our goals. The things we want to achieve. More money, a better job, a happier love life, and more. Instead of focusing on what we want in our future, look at the things you have done so far to achieve your goals.

For instance, if you want more money, think about how much money you have already put into a savings account or how you bought the house/car because you needed it and that is also proof of your monetary stability. If you want a better job, think about the applications you put in last week.

By focusing on the steps you have already taken to reach a goal, you are acknowledging the fact that you are doing all you can to reach them.

16. Forgive Another Person

Think about someone who you feel has wronged you in the past. A friend who stole from you, a family member that hurt you, a coworker that stole your idea, whatever.

Choose a person to forgive. Commit to that forgiveness completely. If it helps, you may even make contact with that person to say that you have forgiven them for whatever it was.

The reason you should do this is simple. You hold negativity by holding anger. It blocks your happiness, even if you do not realize it. By forgiving them, you are freeing your mind to embrace joy.

15. Block Negativity

Negative thoughts and ideas are all around us. Negative people are there as well. If you have someone in your life who is always down about their life, take a break. Blocking their negativity will ensure that you do not think badly about your own life.

If the negativity is something that stems and takes root inside your own mind, practice making it stop. Write down negative thoughts you may have and then try to focus on ways to change them into a positive thought. You may also consider avoiding certain words such as “never”. Instead of feeling as though you will never get something right, admit you have perhaps struggled with it in the past, but will try again with more success.

14. Step Outside

It is difficult to think negative thoughts when you are surrounded by nature’s beauty. If you want to be a happier person, take a walk in nature. You can also go sit by the ocean listening to waves crash or spend an afternoon in the park. In every case, take a little time to smell the flowers as you walk past.

13. Be Thankful

In life, we often focus on what we want. Instead of falling into this trap that will drain your joy, why not look at it another way? Think about all the things that you have already in your life. Perhaps you do not have a new car, but you have a dependable one.

Maybe your house isn’t large, but it is a home. No significant other? No problem because you have amazing friends.

12. Call a Friend

As human beings, we need social interaction. If you spend every night alone or every weekend doing chores, why not take a moment to reach out to friends? It may be a friend from work, a friend you have known your entire life, or someone you haven’t spoken to in years. You will feel better about life because you had that contact with them.

11. Simply Take an Afternoon

How much time do you spend doing things for everyone else you know? Most of us spend all our time working in some way. Instead of doing this, occasionally commit to taking one afternoon to do what you want to do. It may be a crafting project or time at the gym. You get to choose. The key is to avoid doing anything for someone else.

10. Do Something You Love

Again, this is also about doing something that you feel is satisfying in some way. It can be something as simple as reading a book for ten minutes of your day, right before you sleep.

9. Provide Kindness to Another

Spreading joy is a great way to become happier. A smile to a stranger, helping an elderly person carry their bags, or simply holding a door open for others can make you feel better about yourself. It also allows us to meet new people, which can help us feel more social.

8. Declutter Your Mind and Life

A cluttered space equals a cluttered mind. Meditation can help you clear your mind. Next will come uncluttering your workspace and your home. All will make it easier for you to focus on what is most important and cut down on a lot of your “chores” so you can enjoy the life you have to live.

7. Learn to Laugh More

Stop taking life so seriously. Laugh at lame jokes, play with kids, and watch silly movies. You can also laugh if you type a text and autocorrect says it wrong or you have a “happy accident” with a presentation at work.

6. Chocolate, Chocolate, and More Chocolate!

Research has proven that eating chocolate isn’t all bad in limited amounts. Chocolate releases endorphins, which can make you instantly feel happier. Since this is the ultimate goal in life, why not eat a little chocolate each day?

5. Volunteer

If doing a little good for one each person each day can make you happier, imagine how happy you could be if you volunteer some of your time to a group of people? Spending time at a school helping the teacher and getting to know kids or helping out at a food drive will make you feel more satisfied.

4. Block Wasted Thoughts

The mind is a wonderful place, but it can also be quite negative. To be happy in mind, you have to take control of that inner voice that tends to point out what “could” go wrong. This may take a lot of practice, but you can do it.

3. Dance Like Nobody’s Watching

We all invest way too much time worrying over what others may think of us. It can drain us of all joy because we end up not doing the things we want or enjoy. Stop worrying about it. Do what you want! Do what makes you feel good. Sing loudly in the shower, dance to your favorite song, and skip through the park if that is what makes you feel good.

2. Find Your Reason

What is your purpose? Why do you want to write novels or go to work each day? Discover your reason for doing the things that you do each day. By discovering your reason, you will feel more fulfilled by doing it, which will make you do more.

1. Enjoy Simple Pleasures

Admittedly, we all enjoy spending time at an amusement park where it is “fun”. It is not possible for every day to be spent in fun places or doing fun things. This is when you need to discover simple pleasures.

Savor the feeling of walking on a freshly cleaned floor, the taste of pizza as you chew, or the way your pillow feels at night when you rest your head on it. Enjoy consciously every delightful thing you see and do in a day.

Live, Laugh, Love, and Be Happy!

All too often we miss out on seeing that beautiful sunset or feeling the grass between our toes. Don’t let this be your story. Finding happiness is the key to all good things in life. Don’t let it pass you by. You only get one shot at getting it right.
